Paul and the Snake

Paul and the Snake

The story of Paul and the snake is found in the New Testament book of Acts, chapter 28. After surviving a shipwreck on the island of Malta, Paul and his companions were welcomed by the island's inhabitants. While building a fire, a poisonous snake bit Paul's hand. Instead of being harmed, Paul shook the snake off and suffered no ill effects, to the amazement of the locals.

Here are some teachings about this story:

  1. Trust in God's protection: The story of Paul and the snake teaches us to trust in God's protection. Even though Paul was bitten by a deadly snake, he remained unharmed because he had faith in God's power to protect him. We too can trust in God's protection in all situations.

  2. God's power over nature: The story of Paul and the snake also demonstrates God's power over nature. God can use natural elements to perform miracles and show his power, as he did in this story.

  3. Overcoming fear: Paul's reaction to the snake bite shows us how to overcome fear. Instead of panicking and succumbing to fear, Paul remained calm and trusted in God's power. When we face difficult situations, we too can overcome fear by trusting in God.

  4. God's purpose for our lives: Finally, the story of Paul and the snake reminds us that God has a purpose for our lives. Even though Paul was shipwrecked and bitten by a snake, he continued on his mission to share the gospel. We too can trust that God has a purpose for our lives, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
